28 August

Late night update

Quote of the day (well...one of the ones in the list anyway):
"After all is said and done, more is said than done."- Aesop

So instead of catching up with work piling up, I decided to update this blog at almost 2am...I dont know why. Its been a slow start to my final semester at uni. But things are picking up quite fast >< I cant believe I'm almost half-way through this semester already! Theres been rock climbing as well as one of my best friends, Ee-ling, goin on exchange to America.

I think things are going to get pretty hectic in 2 week, cos my dad is goin to Fiji again for a break, which will mean 430am starts for me again, down to help open the newsagency. I dont know how my parents do it.

Theres also been heaps of birthdays as well. A lot of 21sts that have passed and that are coming up.
So for the month of August, a big happy birthday to:
Nick, Rach, Brendan, Corrine, Redfern, Tim, Sophie and Helen!

Well as you can see I've kinda renewed the look of the site. Theres a lot of new gadgets to add. Still gonna tnker with them tho. Dont know if I can get the weather to show Sydney instead of Melbourne...or how to show different stock tickers (yeh I know too much business...).

Oh and btw, Go the Bears!...I mean Parra! =P (Great work by JT)
24 July

Its PN Time Again!

Listening: Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, mushroom, mushroom...Snake, snake!

Its PN time againwhich means uni is a week away for some of us. This is the last PN for quite a few of us as well, so i think we're tryin to make the most of it, despite some of us leaving early today ^^;

So anythin goes. Cant live with regrets or could haves, just do it! Its more fun that way. I even took part in an Aboriginal Emu um..dance, in front of a few hundred new students, which was fun. Never thought I'd do that. I was joking to Itch that we should've done the badger, mushroom, snake actions instead :P  Im sure a few snaps of the dance were taken, so keep an eye out for them ;)

Meanwhile a few of us are trying to snap a good PN photo. There might be another prize again. Last time I won a $50 HMV voucher. So we'll see if we can top this photo of "Alargon" and the "Pie" taken last orientation:

12 July

17 June

Almost there...

Listening: S-club 7: Bring it all back ><;

Hey all, just had my tax and corporate finance exams yesterday so I'm still a bit buggered. This weeks MDC and CFA study task wont be easy ><

In other news, it seems my fav band will be touring again later in the year (linky has 3 Annandale Pics!). And Nothing Lasts Forever is their next single released (wished they played it at the Horden gig,its a bit different but a good song). Was hoping Long Live the Weekend would get more airplay. Also debating whether to buy a S.O.E. vinyl...

Another useless but cool (no pun intended) fact I learned today:

Polar bears sometimes cannot be detected by infra-red cameras except for their head area where they breathe, in their natural environment. Their fur and 4-5 inches of body fat insulates their body heat!

Random Useless Fact

While final exams are coming up and we are meant to be studying, I thought I might as well try and implant a useless fact into your head, especially for the procrastinators out there :P Just in case you get asked it in your tests.

Todays useless fact is that:

Sloths can take longer than a month to digest their food!

Hopefully none of us are acting slothlike at the moment!

Good luck in your exams guys and gals!

One night at the Horden

Listening: The Living End - Staring at the light

"...some may relish in the afterlife, dancing slowly on the edge of a knife, sipping wine of the poisonous kind, overdose of loneliness..."

Who? The Living End, Gyroscope and Kisschasey
Where? The Horden Pavillion
When? Last Friday night

Man this was fun! My ears were ringing for 2 days afterwards. I got tix to this gig months ago and was excited on heading into a real sold out big show *cough* stupid Coke live *cough*
It didnt disappoint. Although I would've liked to have seen Gyroscope, ditching my mates next time if they dont head in. Seriously Roy, Tess how many timess do you need to get a drink or take a piss? By the time I did head in I just missed Gyroscope.

Anyway 30 mins later my mates and I headed into the mosh and by the end of the show we made it (barged our way) close to the front (bloody teeny boppers). They opened with Whats on your radio (I cant believe Dave's dream/premonition was right!). My god that was crazy! Everyone just went nuts. Chris, E and I managed to push our way to um...safer? ground. We lost Roy, Liz and Tess.

Highlights for me included a melody of thir older tunes, Uncle Harry, The Room, Chris playing the guitar with his beer in E-boogie and Scott and Andys 'antics' at the end. Oh and the song changing when those mosh circles formed :D gave us a chance to sneak up the front.

They didnt play some of the songs i expected, but they played heaps. Was over before I knew it. It was awesome, but still, I enjoyed the Enmore and Annandale gigs more. Haha >< Maybe I've been to too many TLE gigs?

Damn lighting...couldnt get very clear pics! Apparently the light has caused Chris Cheney some eye problems too...

Time Flies

Listening: The Whitlams - Year of the Rat

Quote: "If something is new and improved, which one is it?"

Wow, its been ages since I've blogged. Been busy between assignments (bloody assignments!) and interviews.

In the long weekend break, I went camping with Mary, Ivan, Viona, Itch, Alex and Mike at Cattai National Park near Windsor. I think we were planning on doing more than eating and sleeping...but yeh um... we played soccer? :P

Quote: "Average doesn't win" - Giam Swiegers, Deloitte CEO, Australia

Its that time of the year for most penultimate students to apply for gaduate jobs. For those who haven't experienced it yet, its very draining and time consuming. I ended up starting to write a certain way as well. Its a bit hard to believe sometimes. This time last month I was thinkin "Hm...hopefully this time next month I'll hopefully have a grad job." Things are moving too fast.

For my friends with a few years to go in their course my advice would be to apply for summer and/or winter vacation. If you get a spot, then it'll save a lot of time later on!

I applied for 11 or so places all up and got offers from two accounting firms: BDO and Deloitte. I'm probably gonna take Deloiite's. CONGRATS to everyone who's gotten an offer, or in some cases multiple offers! For those still looking, keep tryin'!

Friday 28th April: The Whitlams @ The Metro

Last Friday I went with Chris and co to see the Whitlams. There I met Dave and his lot again too. T'was a good gig! Met Tim Freedman after the show as well which was awesome.
